| Ackergill Harbour | |||||
| This is where the club has its regular paddles during the year and we can head over to Castles Sinclair and Girigoe and round Noss head, Or head along Reiss beach past Ackergill towers. | |||||
| Thurso River | RIVER THURSO | ||||
| We regularly paddle the Dirlot gorge you can keep a check on the river level here or go the the road bridge at Halkirk and have a look at the gauge. The river needs at least 12 inches to make it run-able with a few scrapes | |||||
| River Dunbeath | |||||
| Probably the best section of white water in Caithness a continuous section of grade 2-3 and up to grade 4 in really big water | |||||
| Forss River | |||||
| The Forss river has a short grade 3-3+ section near westfield that is worth a look. Also has a water fall further downstream that has been paddled. | |||||
| Surf | |||||
| The Pentland Canoe Club based in Thurso has a very comprehensive list of surf spots in the North listed here. Our club members can be regularly be spotted surfing on Reiss beach. | |||||
| Caithness Coast | |||||
| Caithness has a spectacular coastline that is second to none for interesting features and excellent opportunities for wildlife watching, club members have encountered Orcas on more than one occasion whilst paddling out from Ackergill harbour. The county has many small harbours dotted around the the coast that make wonderful put in points. | |||||
